For New Patients

Chinese Medicine General Practice

Practitioners: Travis Kern, Travis Cunningham, & Sage Ricci

Practitioners at Root & Branch are all NCCAOM Board Certified Chinese Medicine practitioners and as such are supremely capable of working with virtually any type of patient. However, Chinese medicine has many facets that can be emphasized by practitioners with different post-graduate trainings, certifications, or lineage experiences. But here are a few things that are common to virtually all practitioners of this powerful medicine:

  1. Detailed questioning about your condition and your general constitutional norms

  2. Taking the pulse to determine some internal metrics of health

  3. Examining the tongue in order to get a sense of what could be some of the root causes of your discomfort

  4. Facial and/or vocal analysis to provide more dimensions to the diagnosis

  5. Abdominal exam to check for areas of tenderness, temperature variation, or discoloration

What to expect in your Initial Appointment:

Your practitioner will talk with you about what brought you into the clinic and what you hope to accomplish with treatment. They will then examine your pulse, take a look at your tongue, and use any other diagnostic item mentioned above that they deem helpful. This deep exploration of your health metrics provides insight into the patient's personality, emotions, and relative quality of health or disease within the organs of their body.

Once an initial diagnosis is determined, your practitioner will propose a treatment plan, discuss measurable patient outcomes, and talk about the best treatments to help ameliorate your situation. Then, time permitting, one or more of those treatments will be used at the end of the appointment.

Fee Schedule

Root & Branch has set its rates according to usual and customary industry norms. The fees exist as a range of costs depending on the complexity of your case and the types of healing strategies employed. The clinic does offer "time of service" discounts for patients paying for services before or immediately after treatment. Therefore, the prices listed below are for services once the "time of service" discount has been applied and before any additional discounts for treatment package purchases. Please see the Treatment Plan below for more information on Treatment Package discounts.

For information about using health insurance to pay for treatment, please see the insurance information section

Root & Branch has designed its clinical offerings to promote frequency of treatment through comprehensive treatment planning. That is, we want to see you more often to get you feeling better more quickly. To that end, we offer deep discounts (up to 20%) on the purchase of a complete treatment plan. See the fees below and the example treatment plan for more information

Dr. Livingston manages his own fee schedule which differs from Root & Branch generally (rates below) and does not bill insurance.
